School of Engineering Rep candidate
What do you think is the number one priority for students in your school?
The top priority for students at Roehampton Vale is gaining real engineering experience that prepares us for the industry. We put in long hours in labs, manage tough coursework, and work on competitive projects, so we need stronger industry links, better networking opportunities, and hands-on learning that prepares us for the real world. With my experience as a mentor and young researcher, I have seen how building the right connections can open doors, and I would push for more internships, career events, and workshops. At the same time, balancing stress is important, and I know that having spaces like Richmond Park and Wimbledon Common to unwind helps. If I could make a change, I would focus on more student support, better career opportunities, and making sure students get the recognition they deserve.
How would you represent students in your school?
As a first-year student at Roehampton Vale Campus, I know we are all hardworking and passionate about engineering. We spend hours in labs, wind tunnels, and workshops, constantly problem-solving and developing our skills. My experience in the RAF Air Cadets as a Flight Sergeant has taught me how to lead, support, and represent a team, and I want to bring that same mindset to help my fellow students. Having worked as a Cabin crew at Eurowings, I also understand teamwork, adaptability, and handling pressure, which are essential skills in engineering. I would make sure students’ voices are heard, push for better industry connections, and work to improve student support and opportunities so everyone gets the best experience at Roehampton Vale.
