President candidate
If elected, what are your top three priorities in the role?
"If elected as Kingston University Student President, my top three priorities will be student support, employability, and campus experience. University life comes with many challenges, and I want to ensure that every student receives the support they need to succeed. I will advocate for better access to academic help, financial aid, and mental health services. With the rising cost of living, I will push for increased hardship funds, cheaper food options on campus, and more financial guidance to ease student struggles. Mental health is just as important, so I will work to reduce waiting times for counselling services and promote peer support networks to ensure students never feel alone. Alongside support, employability is a major concern for students preparing for life after university. I will push for more paid internships, increased part-time job opportunities on campus, and stronger links with industry professionals to provide real-world experience. Additionally, I will advocate for more career workshops, networking events, and career fairs to help students connect with potential employers and gain relevant skills. University is not just about academics—it should be an exciting and inclusive experience for everyone. I will work closely with societies and sports clubs to increase funding, organise more diverse events, and ensure students from all backgrounds feel included. I will also push for better study spaces, extended library hours during exam periods, and improved campus facilities to create a more productive and enjoyable environment. Representation matters, and I will ensure all voices are heard by being approachable, proactive, and dedicated to making real changes that benefit every student. If elected, I will work tirelessly to make Kingston University a place where students feel supported, career-ready, and fully engaged in university life, ensuring they have the best possible experience during their time here."
Working with the other elected officers, which priority do you think you should share?
"I believe student support should be a shared priority among the elected officers. Many students face challenges with academic pressures, financial struggles, and mental health concerns, so it is crucial to work together to improve access to affordable resources, better well-being services, and stronger academic support. By collaborating, we can push for increased hardship funds, better mental health provisions, and more accessible study spaces. A united approach will ensure that every student feels supported throughout their time at Kingston University, creating a more inclusive and nurturing environment where everyone has the opportunity to thrive. "
How will you effectively represent and engage with your members?
"I will effectively represent and engage with students by being approachable, proactive, and transparent. I will hold regular drop-in sessions, Q&A forums, and online polls to ensure all voices are heard. By actively engaging with societies, sports clubs, and student networks, I will address concerns and implement real changes. I will also improve communication through social media updates, newsletters, and open meetings, ensuring students stay informed. Working closely with the elected officers and university staff, I will push for policies that truly reflect student needs, making Kingston University a more inclusive and supportive environment for everyone.
