President candidate
If elected, what are your top three priorities in the role?
Accessibility and Inclusion – As someone with a mental disability and possible neurodiverse differences, I understand the barriers that students with disabilities face. I will advocate for more inclusive policies, such as accessible learning materials, increased support services, and awareness initiatives to ensure that every student, regardless of their needs, can thrive at Kingston.
Strengthening Mental Health Support – Mental health is crucial to student success. I will push for more funding for counselling services, peer support networks, and mental health training for staff. By reducing stigma and increasing resources, we can create a more supportive university environment.
Building a Stronger Student Community – University should be a place where everyone feels valued and connected. I will work to improve student engagement by expanding opportunities for networking, mentorship, and cultural events. Whether through academic support, social initiatives, or career development, my goal is to ensure that all students feel a sense of belonging at Kingston.
With my background in social work and as a student social worker, I am committed to advocating for student needs, promoting equity, and fostering a supportive university experience.
Working with the other elected officers, which priority do you think you should share?
"A priority I believe should be shared among elected officers is mental health support and wellbeing. Every student, regardless of their background, faces challenges that can impact their studies. By collaborating on mental health initiatives—such as improving access to services, reducing stigma, and implementing proactive wellbeing strategies—we can ensure that Kingston University provides a supportive environment where all students can succeed."
How will you effectively represent and engage with your members?
"I will actively listen to students by hosting regular forums, drop-in sessions, and online surveys to ensure their voices shape decision-making. My background in social work has equipped me with strong advocacy and problem-solving skills, which I will use to address student concerns effectively. Additionally, I will collaborate with student societies and support networks to ensure that all communities, especially those with disabilities and neurodiverse differences, feel heard and included. By maintaining transparency, being approachable, and prioritising student needs, I will work to make Kingston a more inclusive and supportive place for everyone."
