School of Life Sciences Pharmacy and Chemistry School Rep Candidate
What do you think is the number one priority for students in your faculty?
At the moment I think the main priority for pharmacy students and lecturers is the recently changed pharmacy course in which pharmacists are now becoming independent prescribers after graduation. I believe this is a really exciting change and provides more opportunities, however there are gaps in understanding on how our new roles as pharmacists has changed as well as how we can achieve these new qualifications. I think the main priority is trying bridge the gaps in misunderstanding between the lecturers and students to make it clear what our next steps and what our future entails now that we are becoming independent prescribers.
How would you represent students in your faculty?
I believe I would represent students from the school of pharmacy as I have always been interested in the role of the pharmacist and healthcare like many of the students and therefore want to make everyone's learning as efficient as possible. I would consider myself a confident and approachable individual who would always be happy to help any of the pharmacy students with any concerns they have regarding the course, particularly in regard to the course recently changing. I would represent the school by encouraging and being involved in communication between students, lecturers and other academics in other healthcare related courses either in person, via email or online meetings.
