Presented by KSU and the University's LGBTQ+ Staff Network, join us for a reflective safe space exploring colonialism's effects on our understandings of gender and sexuality.
Join KSU and the University' LGBTQ+ Staff Network for a gentle and reflective workshop hosted by Jaime Young. We will be exploring how ideas about gender and sexuality have been shaped by history, culture and colonial influence. Together we’ll look at pre‑colonial identities from around the world, think about how certain norms became dominant and talk about what it means to imagine freer and more expansive futures.
This is a supportive space for shared learning rather than debate. You’re welcome to bring your own experiences, listen to others and take things at your own pace. We’ll finish with a creative activity using blackout poetry and collage, giving you a chance to express what resonated with you in a personal way. You can choose to share this with the rest of the group if you wish!
