This Black History Month exceeded all of our expectations, with student groups reclaiming narratives and collaborating with KSU to deliver a wide variety of activities, there were endless opportunities for students to connect and learn.. From ACS's Black Excellence Showcase where students had the opportunity to support the different businesses our students have, to be able to try a new barber and see a special guest’s performance.
The Dance Club organised an Afro-Caribbean free dance class with Kelis William teaching new moves to the participants.
The Book Club society selected "The Girl with the Louding Voice" by Abi Dare, providing a platform for a Black author and story. If your sports club or society is interested in getting involved in future History Months, please reach out to KSU!
Our pop-up events across all four campuses of KU were a hit, offering interactive experiences like word hunts and spinning the wheel. We were also thrilled to see over 89 students joined us for the first Afrikana food truck visit at the RV campus, and we're already working on bringing it back due to its popularity.
This year's theme of "Reclaiming Narratives" resonated deeply with our community, as we aimed to provide a space for students to showcase their voices. With over 455 students engaging with us, it's clear that KSU is here to support and empower our members. Thank you for making this Black History Month unforgettable.
