Students Who Work: Understanding the Relationship Between Studies and Work at Kingston University

Kingston Students’ Union is launching a research project to understand the experiences of Kingston students who work alongside their studies.

We have written a briefing document which outlines the current data and discourses around the topic, and the scoping of the research project.

We would like to invite Kingston students who work or have worked alongside their studies to participate in a survey and share about your experiences in working whilst studying.

To say thank you for taking part, we will select 5 winners to win one £100 Tesco voucher and four £25 vouchers. Winners will be drawn at random after the survey closes and contacted via their KU email, so make sure you leave your K Number if you want to be in with a chance of winning. You must complete the whole survey by 27 November 2025 at 12pm  to be eligible.

Take the survey

We will also conduct a focus group with students, and there will be incentives for your participation. If you are interested in taking part, you can opt in at the end of the survey.

If you have any questions about this research project, please contact suresearch@kingston.ac.uk.

6:11am on 13 Nov 25 Balancing work, studies, and social life can be tough at uni, but it’s all part of building character and resilience. The key is smart time management, efficiency, and knowing when to rest. Stay organized, set priorities, and don’t forget to take care of yourself along the way. It’s not just about getting everything done it’s about growing through the process. Everything takes time & don’t forget to enjoy/trust the process!
