Last year during World Hijab Day on 1st February, your Union published an article to highlight the importance of World Hijab Day in combating prejudice, discrimination, and bigotry faced by Muslim girls and women who wear the hijab.

One of the commitments we made last year was to work in ensuring that all our activities are as inclusive as possible. How we have done this:

  • Women History Month: we worked with More Energy Fitness Gym to deliver all female classes during the month of March.
  • Black History Month: we collaborated with societies to deliver a wide range of events which did not involve alcohol.
  • This Girl Can campaign: we will run a series of sessions again on 17th – 22nd March 2025
  • Islamophobia Awareness Month: this month KSU is doing a tour around all campuses to create awareness for IAM, and we have badges and stickers for everyone.

In addition, we’re conducting a research project on Black Student Experience (BSEP), and one of its aims is to make our sports clubs and societies more accessible to Black students.
