Members' Manifesto Launch

KSUelections2026

Members’ Manifesto launch

The ongoing impact of AI cannot be ignored, and we understand how useful it can be assisting with any written course work, dissertations and even in the workforce. However, here at KSU we want to support you all with sounding more authentic and less robotic, hence why we are proud to announce the members manifesto launch.

What is the Member’s Manifesto and Why is it relevant?

This is what makes YOU unique as a candidate. Your USPs or unique selling points as some businesses may use. You want to be the McDonalds or Apple of the field you are in.

In the context of a member’s manifesto, candidates create a manifesto outlining three objectives to improve YOUR student experience at Kingston University. These objectives may relate to academic interests, student life or even local/national issues. Think of it as a unique selling point i.e. what makes a candidate stand out. Just like how McDonalds or Apple stand out in their respective markets, candidates will define what they stand for within a democratic space. They will do this via their manifestos to communicate their priorities, values and proposed actions. In short, the Members’ Manifesto is not just a document, it’s a public commitment to YOU students.

What does the launch of Member’s Manifesto do?

The launch formally introduces these commitments to the student body. KSU is a democratic organisation. Our legitimacy depends on representing member interests.

The launch serves several purposes:

  • Transparency: It shows students what the Union intends to focus on.

  • Accountability: It creates measurable commitments.

  • Engagement: It invites students to contribute and challenge priorities.

In effect, the manifesto becomes a reference point for decision-making throughout the year.

Why should students care about this?

Because the Members’ Manifesto determines:

  • What issues are prioritised

  • What campaigns are launched

  • What negotiations happen with the University

  • How student voice is translated into action

It is, effectively, the Union’s policy contract with its members. YOU are the members.

How can you get involved?

We are holding Candidate Hustings on Thursday the 12th of March in Clattern Lecture Theatre at Penrhyn Road Campus from 16:00 to 18:00.

This will be the opportunity for you to question the candidates about their manifesto’s and get a clearer picture of what each candidate is standing for.
