President candidate

Emma Bitar

If elected, what are your top three priorities in the role?

"Responsibility, as in being responsible of my position by managing my time along with appropriate dedication to the role to not disappoint anyone, especially since I will be carrying the university’s reputation to some extent. Secondly would be teamwork, I am a firm believer in teamwork and the innovation it can ensue, so I will make sure to be respectful, kind to the people around me to make sure we achieve the best results as we work together with empathy and understanding. Lastly, open-mindedness, in order to have improvement even in the slightest, I should be ready to listen and try out new ideas and listen to other people’s opinons as well as my own as the university and the students’ well being, health and happiness should be a top priority always and I shall do my absolute best to ensure that it stays that way. "

Working with the other elected officers, which priority do you think you should share?

"We should prioritise the students and making sure they are as comfortable as possible at uni and enjoying their time, we should make sure that the university remains a safe space where they can express themselves freely without fear of judgement, which is why as students we should know that and have the university and its students’ best interest in mind. We should also prioritise teamwork as I think the more minds work together the better as we can gather much more feedback that way in order to improve."

How will you effectively represent and engage with your members?

"Being empathetic and understanding is very important when communicating with other people, especially with your peers/co-workers as they can help you better yourself, so it is a priority to be respectful and approachable at the same time, not be judgmental and most importantly to be a good listener with an open mind and remember that we are equals around each other. When representing them, I should demonstrate professionalism, confidence and good leadership skills and must work to make a good impression and keep in mind the main goal, the university and my fellow peers.
