About us

Welcome to Aerospace Engineering Society! ✈︎

✈︎ Looking to boost your Kingston Graduate Attributes and gain hands-on engineering experience? ✈︎
Join...
The Kingston University’s first ever Aerospace Engineering Society, created for students who are fascinated by flight and the technology that makes it possible. Many people look at an aircraft and wonder how it manages to lift, glide, and land with precision; the Aero Society transforms that curiosity into practical experience and engineering skill. We welcome students from all courses and backgrounds, whether you study engineering, design, computing, or simply have an interest in how aircraft work.

Our Mission

The Aero Society was founded to bridge the gap between theory and hands-on engineering. Our mission is to give students real experience in UAV design, propulsion systems, and aerodynamics, while connecting them with professionals through guest lectures, workshops, and networking events.

Our Goals

  1. Provide students with practical design and simulation experience
  2. Encourage participation in competitions such as the RAeS AeroChallenge, AeroTube, International Light Aircraft Design Competition and British Model Flying Associations (BMFA) Paylod Challenge.
  3. Support Foundation and First Year students in developing confidence and technical ability
  4. Build an inclusive and collaborative community open to all disciplines
  5. Help members strengthen teamwork, leadership, and problem-solving skills

Our Community

The Aero Society offers a space to connect, learn, and innovate. We organise technical workshops, design projects, challenges and social events that allow students to apply knowledge, share ideas, and celebrate progress together.

Why Join the Aero Society?

By joining the Aero Society, you become part of Kingston’s growing aerospace engineering community. You will gain hands-on experience, professional insight, and the confidence to shape your future in aviation technology and engineering.
